Aspen CBE
Launches Teaching Module on Energy Efficiency
Aspen CBE is pleased to announce the creation of a new
teaching module on energy efficiency.
At its core,
energy efficiency is about doing more with less. In times of a down
economy and uncertain energy prices, the importance of saving energy
seems clear; over the long term, however, how does a focus on energy
efficiency make sense for business? Business is both uniquely suited to
address the problems of energy efficiency and to reap the potential
rewards of those solutions by melding social and profit constraints into
a plan for an innovative energy future.

Conceptualizing Conscious Capitalism Conference Now Available Online
On May 28, Aspen CBE co-sponsored a conference on "Conceptualizing
Conscious Capitalism" at Bentley
University. The
event featured an array of distinguished speakers from academia and
the private sector.
Conscious
Capitalism is defined as encompassing the following three principles:
companies have a purpose that transcends profit maximization; companies are
managed for the benefit of all stakeholders in their ecosystem, not just
shareholders; and companies are led by spiritually evolved,
self-effacing servant leaders.
Video of the event is now available online.

Aspen in Chicago:
AOM a Success!
From August 8th-11th, Aspen CBE staff decamped to Chicago
to join the annual convergence of business faculty at the Academy of Management.
We staffed a
booth in the exhibition hall and held a cocktail reception at the
Sheraton. At both, we saw old and new friends and put faces to
familiar names.
The winner of
our business card raffle is Jay Friedlander, the Sharpe-McNally Chair of
Green and Socially Responsible Business at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. He
will receive an iPod Shuffle!
After several
days of paper sessions and lakefront humidity we returned to our
office in New York City, but we thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves in Chicago!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth and joined us at the reception!
