Aspen Institute Center For Business Education: Preparing leaders for social and environmental stewardship. E-newsletter
Featured Topic:
Entrepreneurship

The academic discipline of Entrepreneurship has grown exponentially in recent years, while individuals and companies alike have drawn media attention for using the discipline's skills and attitudes to help address societal problems.  This "Closer Look" examines how two professors share their real-world entrepreneurial experiences in the classroom, and raises questions about how faculty can design curricula that best help students to develop entrepreneurial competency, vision, and commitment.

Web Conference on Sustainability and the Finance Curriculum

The current financial crisis brings issues around the social, environmental and ethical impacts of business front and center, particularly for finance professors.  How can finance as an academic discipline best bring these issues into the curriculum, particularly the core curriculum?

On February 4 at 11 AM EST, we'll examine these questions on a web conference entitled "How Should Sustainability Be Integrated into the Core Finance Curriculum?" Gautam Kaul, who is John C. and Sally S. Morley Professor of Finance at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and Sylvia Maxfield, who is Associate Professor at the Simmons College School of Management will be the lead speakers.

To attend the web conference, please RSVP to Rachel Shattuck at
Rachel.Shattuck@aspeninst.org.

For some finance faculty's thoughts on how their teaching is affected by the financial crisis, see a short Aspen Institute white paper:

Call for Faculty Thoughts on the Financial Crisis
