Aspen Institute Center For Business Education: Preparing leaders for social and environmental stewardship. E-newsletter
Featured Topic:
Public and Nonprofit Management

With a national mood focused on public service, and an increased interest among young people in the nonprofit sector, the time is ripe for business schools to design programs suitable for students who plan to work for government and nonprofits.  This Closer Look examines public and nonprofit management coursework, and raises questions about how all students can benefit from the skills and attitudes it may impart.

Call for Faculty Thoughts on Defining "Sustainability"

"Sustainability" is often used as a catch-all, short-hand term, but many believe that it should be better defined.  Aspen CBE is seeking faculty thoughts on how "sustainability" and related environmental and social impact topics are defined and conceptualized by business scholars in their teaching and research.  To share your point of view, please contact Rachel Shattuck at Rachel.Shattuck@aspeninst.org.

Aspen CBE and CWRU Collaborate on 2009 Global Forum

Aspen CBE and Case Western Reserve University will collaborate on the upcoming Second Global Forum on Business as an Agent of World Benefit (BAWB).

The conference, to be held on June 2-5, 2009 at Case Western Reserve's Weatherhead School of Management in Cleveland, Ohio, will take the concept of "management-as-design" as its starting point.  Defined as a "creative problem-solving" and "out of the box thinking" approach, management-as-design envisions large scale innovation to unleash human creativity and harness business to benefit people and planet.  Click here for more.
